Building Permits
A building permit gives you the legal authorization to start construction of a building or project in accordance with the approved drawing and specifications. Permit applications are available online, or may be picked up at the Municipal Complex during normal business hours. When the applicant competes the form, it is reviewed by Town Staff who review each application for accuracy and completeness and ensure any required supporting documents are included. From there, the application request is forwarded for Plan Review by the Building Official which for most standard applications only takes about two business days. If the Plan Review identifies parts of the application that are unclear or incorrect, the application will be returned to the applicant for clarification. Once Plan Review approves the plans, the applicant is notified and a building permit will be printed for pickup at the Municipal Complex

Your home or business is an investment. If your construction does not comply with the codes adopted by the Town, the value of your investment could be reduced. Property insurers may not cover work done without a permit or inspections. If you sell a home or building, you may be required to tear down the unpermitted work or perform costly repairs.
