Yemassee Police arrest Christopher LaFontaine, 27 on charges of Threatening a Public Official

FOR IMMEDIEATE RELEASE (Yemassee, SC) - Yemassee Police arrested Christopher LaFontaine, 27, of Yemassee on multiple charges including Threatening a Public Official and Unlawful Communication. On August 27, 2021, Yemassee Police attempted to make contact with LaFontaine on a vehicle stop at which time LaFontaine, attempted to evade law enforcement. Police were able to make contact via telephone with LaFontaine and during the call, he made threats to commit bodily to harm a Police Officer. On September 3, 2021 with the assistance of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Agents were able to apprehend LaFontaine on warrants issued by Yemassee Police in Beaufort. LaFontaine was arrested and booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center and was subsequently transferred to the Hampton County Detention Center later that day. LaFontaine had an additional warrant from an incident that occured at the Love's Travel Stops several days prior. Municipal Judge Sheryl P. McKinney set bond at $5,000 on the charge of Threatening a Public Official and $1,000 on the charge of Unlawful Communication. LaFontaine posted bond on Saturday September 4, 2021.
