Yemassee PD, Hampton County Deputies, SLED Agents Respond to Burglary, Arrest Suspect

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Yemassee, SC) – On Sunday, August 29, 2021, at approximately 2:45 AM, Yemassee Police Department officers and Hampton County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported Burglary at the BP Gas Station on Lane Street in the Town of Yemassee. Upon arrival, it was determined that a male subject broke the window with a rock, entered the business and stole cigarettes and rolling papers, and fled the scene on foot. Yemassee Police requested the assistance of the SLED Crime Scene Unit to assist with processing the scene and gathering evidence. Officers began canvassing the area and a few hours later, a call was received that a suspicious person was seen behind Love’s Travel Stops. Officers and Deputies made contact with a male subject, identified as Zackery Nathan Williams, 36, of Sumter, SC. It was determined that Williams used a rock to damage the window, entered the store, and stole $2,500 of tobacco products. Williams was arrested and charged with Burglary and transported to the Hampton County Detention Center, where he remains incarcerated on a $75,000 bond.
