Town awarded $25,000 PARD Grant to develop new Park

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Town of Yemassee received notification of an award of a South Carolina Park and Recreation Development Fund (PARD) grant in the amount of $25,000 to develop a new Municipal park next to the Marine Corps Tribute Mural downtown at 16 Wall Street. The park will be just over a quarter acre and include sitting areas, a gazebo, grilling stations, a water feature and an enclosed bark park, a safe area for dogs to run off leash while being in an enclosed area. The development of this park marks the first new municipal park to be developed in the Town in well over a decade and the first municipal park within the Beaufort County portion of Town. The grant was sponsored by the Beaufort County Legislative Delegation to aid in improving our recreational offerings within the Town of Yemassee.

The grant contributes $25,000.00 with a minimum local match from the Town of Yemassee of $6,250.00. The Town will meet and exceed that amount to develop the Marine Corps Tribute Park. We encourage you to visit us on our website and follow us on social media for more updates regarding construction and development of our new park.
