April is Fair Housing Month
The Town of Yemassee proudly recognizes Fair Housing Month. We must promote fair housing practices and educate our community about the importance of equal housing opportunities for all. By celebrating this month, we aim to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment where all individuals and families can find housing that meets their needs without fear of discrimination. Our town is committed to upholding fair housing laws and practices, which is why the Town signed on to the Beaufort Jasper Housing Trust. The trust will help towns like ours to bring affordable workforce housing to our citizens. - Matt Garnes, Town Administrator
On April 11, 1968, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which contains Title VIII, also known as the Fair Housing Act.
