COVID-19 Update - April 1, 2020

It's three weeks since we began our new "normal". Your Town Government is in contact with local, county and state leaders daily and are actively monitoring the situation. Going forward, we're going to try and publish daily updates regarding COVID-19 from our local and regional leaders.

April 1, 2020

  • All town parks are closed. This includes Moore's Park, Willis St Basketball Courts, Harold Peeples ballfield, Veterans Monument Park and the Marine Corps Tribute Park will be closed until further notice.
  • The Yemassee Community Center remains closed until further notice. Anyone who was scheduled to rent out the Center for April and May has been contacted for other arrangements.
  • Yemassee Municipal Court scheduled for tomorrow, April 2, is rescheduled for a later date. Persons that were scheduled to appear have been contacted.
  • Yesterday, Governor Henry McMaster ordered all non-essential businesses to close by 5 PM today per Executive Order 2020-17. If you have a question of whether your business is deemed essential, please contact the South Carolina Department of Commerce and they will strive to get a response to you within 24 hours.
  • On Monday, Governor Henry McMaster ordered the closure of all public access boat ramps and beaches statewide per Executive Order 2020-16. Accordingly, the Combahee & Public boat landings in Yemassee are closed until further notice. An exemption is in place for those with a Commercial Fisherman license.
